Island Transportation
As far as freedom of movement and exploration a vehicle can be invaluable. Although the island is small its tightly turning mountain roads make a relatively long journey and a challenging experience. Cars, including four-wheel drive, are available for rental to take you almost anywhere on the island. A valid drivers license and a Dominicas Drivers Permit are required. A permit can be obtained through rental agencies and police stations. Be advised that vehicles are driven on the left-hand side of the road.
The bus system is another excellent way of getting around. It provides access to everywhere on island although connections to other buses may be required.
